New managing director at Digital Realty Belgium

Digital Realty – a global provider of data center services – appoints David Louis as its new managing director in Belgium.

David Louis succeeds Dirk van de Geer, who announced his retirement after a long career with the company. David Louis himself has been with Digital Realty since 2010, including as sales manager and director of sales & marketing. Before that, he worked in the telecom sector. It is under his impulse that the number of international telecom providers using the Brussels data centers was increased from forty to about a hundred.

In his new role, David Louis Digital Realty intends to work on further filling the capacity that was tripled last year. That also means continuing to grow the team. ‘Over the past few years, we have already doubled the number of employees to just over forty. That should expand further in the next two years to fifty to sixty colleagues,’ Louis said. Further greening of the data centers is also on his to-do list. For example, additional solar panels will be installed and the oldest data center in Brussels will be renovated to become both more sustainable and more efficient.

Digital Realty is a global provider of cloud and network-neutral data center, colocation and interconnection solutions. The group bought European data center operator InterXion in 2020 for $8.4 billion, which at the time already had data centers in Brussels. That name was initially retained, but in 2022 Digital Realty decided to extinguish the InterXion brand name anyway.
