How the Green Energy Park contributes positively to the energy transition

Green Energy Park

To accelerate the energy transition, cooperation between various stakeholders is badly needed. A good example of a new location that contributes to energy transition is the Green Energy Park in Zellik.

Our data consumption is growing at a rapid pace, which means that many servers within data centers use a lot of power. But over the years, parties within the digital infrastructure sector are actually pushing hard to operate as efficiently as possible.

Nexus data center contributes to energy transition

A good example of a new location contributing to energy transition is the Green Energy Park in Zellik (Brussels region). This research hub established in 2019 by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the UZ Brussel (UZB) to develop innovative solutions to societal challenges together with government and industry. The Green Energy Park is home to Penta Infra’s Nexus data center (BDIA Partner). Opened this year, this state-of-the art facility highlights the ambitions of the Belgian data center industry to grow Brussels as a region into a new European hub.

From concept to realization

Planning, such as obtaining permits and funding, to building a data center takes time. That is why it is important to bring the right parties together to professionally get started. One of the parties involved in the development of the Nexus data center is BDIA partner Ingenium. As an engineering firm, they played a crucial role in the development of the data center up close.
