Brussels, 12-03-2025 – The Belgian Digital Infrastructure Association (BDIA), trade association for Belgium organizations active in the digital infrastructure industry, is proud to announce that Microsoft becomes a partner of the association.
The Belgian digital infrastructure and data center industry are rapidly developing themselves as a promising secondary market in Europe. As the demand for digital services from consumers, businesses, and public sector organizations continues to grow, major investments are being made to build the digital infrastructure. Every partner of the Belgian Digital Infrastructure Association (BDIA) contributes with their services to the growing Belgian digital ecosystem.
Therefore, BDIA is glad to welcome Microsoft as a new member of the BDIA partner network. As a leading technology company, Microsoft seamlessly integrates their services into people’s daily life which contributes to a better future for everyone. Furthermore, Microsoft launched Digital AmBEtion for the Belgian digital market. This holistic multi-year investment plan is designed to accelerate the digital transformation of Belgium’s public and private sector. It includes three pillars: providing world-class digital infrastructure, helping citizens develop digital skills with a strong focus on AI training, and creating sustainable societal impact. As AI continues to reshape industries, equipping the workforce with AI skills is a crucial step in ensuring Belgium remains competitive in the digital economy.
Central to the plan, Microsoft will establish a new datacenter region in Belgium, strategically located in the heart of Europe, that delivers advanced data security and cloud solutions, offering Belgian organizations local data residency and faster access to the cloud. With this new datacenter region, Belgium will join the largest cloud infrastructure in the world and be part of a network of more than 60 datacenter regions.
Carole Santens, Managing Director of the Belgian Digital Infrastructure Association (BDIA) addresses: “We are thrilled to welcome Microsoft as a new BDIA partner. Their Digital AmBEtion plan underlines the importance of further developing Belgium’s digital infrastructure. With the growing demand for cloud services and data center capacity, it is also crucial to work together with various stakeholders to ensure that Belgium fulfills its potential and will become the next data center hub of Europe.”
Marijke Schroos, General Manager of Microsoft BeLux, added: “Belgium is at a turning point in its digital transformation, and robust cloud infrastructure is key to unlocking its full potential. By joining BDIA, we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting Belgium’s businesses and public sector with secure, scalable, and AI-powered cloud solutions. With our new datacenter region, we are not only bringing world-class technology closer to home but also strengthening Belgium’s position as a digital leader in Europe.”
Tiziano Durante, Microsoft Cloud Region Lead Belgium, adds: “The first thing I wanted to do when I embraced the Azure Belgium Region opening journey was to join the Belgian Digital Infrastructure Association (BDIA). Positive feedback from similar experiences in other countries confirms that actively engaging in the datacenter industry is a key success factor for both Microsoft and the whole Belgian ecosystem. Microsoft aims to work with partners and vendors to achieve success, BDIA provides an ideal platform to implement this strategy.”
