The safe and recyclable NiZn batteries can be combined with certain large and medium-sized Vertiv™ UPS systems, including the recently launched Vertiv™ Trinergy™, as a source of backup energy storage. This aligns with Vertiv’s commitment to helping its customers minimize the carbon footprint of their data center locations. The ZincFive BC Series UPS Battarey Cabinets are now available in the EMEA region and North America.
ZinkFive’s BC Series Battery Cabinets is the first NiZn battery solution for energy storage with both backward and forward compatibility with megawatt-class UPS systems. The BC Series solutions have the smallest footprint in the industry. It is much smaller than that of VRLA and lithium-ion batteries. Maintenance requirements are also minimal. The chemistry of NiZn batteries ensures reliable operation, which ensures that the battery strands continue to conduct even when cells are weak or empty. According to a study by Boundless Impact commissioned by ZincFive, ZincFive’s NiZn batteries also have a significantly smaller end-to-end environmental impact than lead-acid and lithium batteries. This is confirmed by external expert analysis.
Tim Hysell, CEO and co-founder of ZincFive said, “Our drive for innovation is reflected in our powerful, safe and reliable NiZn battery technology. The BC Series represents an ideal solution to meet the changing demands of data centers both now and in the future. In addition, sustainability is growing in importance for data center backup battery systems. This aligns perfectly with the shared values of ZincFive, our partners and our customers. We strive to minimize carbon emissions and operational costs without compromising security or performance.”
“Vertiv and ZincFive want to contribute on a global scale to reliable and efficiently functioning data centers that provide improved data access with less waste and greater energy efficiency,” said Milind Paranjape, senior director of Energy Storage at Vertiv. “Vertiv has already deployed ZincFive’s solution at several sites of larger data center companies.“
